Changes

Okay, its taken quite a bit longer then we expected, but I finally have some news to report. WE'RE HAVING A BABY! Just kidding (no heart attacks mom), as much as I love being a mom and Kimball a dad, we can't help thinking that poverty, homelessness and the general unknown isn't the best time to welcome a little one to the family. I know I exaggerate.

But don't fret, I do have some real news to report. Yesterday, Kimball signed a contract with the National Guard and is going to bootcamp on April 7th. He'll be gone for 9 weeks and then go to OCS (I don't know what the initials stand for, but it's an officers training camp) for another couple of months and then he'll come home a 2nd Lieutenant.

This is definitely not the direction we started out in, but I am so relieved to have things moving again. Don't get me wrong, risk of deployment is a huge worry I guess I'll have to get used to for the next few years. We've done our best to be smart about the whole thing. For instance Kimball is joining an intelligence brigade rather than a combat brigade, which I guess is supposed to be much safer, but there's only so much we can do. And I'm not looking forward to being a single mom for the next few months. I hate being away from Kimball. I'm trying to prepare as best I can. I'm taking a photography class with my dad and Kaden's going to play soccer (keep your fingers crossed). I'm just trying to keep myself and the kids busy.

But I think it will be good for us. Plus, I'll get to go to the dentist again, Yeah!

It's fun to see where the future is going....what an exciting adventure, but a single mom!!! YIKES! Good thing you have such a great family to help you;)

I really liked how your precursor to your (fake) pregnancy announcement was to say that it's taken quite a bit longer than you expected. You know, because Jo's so old now, and of course you would have been trying to get pregnant for a long time by now. Right? =)

Anyway, congrats to you guys on this big decision. I'm sure Kimball will be outstanding at what he does, and I'm sure you will continue to be an outstanding support for him.

Good luck with everything coming up, Ashley! We will keep you guys in our prayers.
